Budget livestream build (one volunteer Sunday)
A concrete cart for a Sunday that one volunteer actually runs alone. Labor is the constraint, not seat count. One back-wall PTZ with presets, pastor audio on the mix, and a path a late substitute can still start. It is not a second-camera plan and not a two-person booth.
Seat-count shopping lives on the under-~150 cart. The first-kit map (throw, seats, skip list) is First livestream kit for a small church. When the question is a second camera, read When a small church should add a second camera. When the question is pastor mic into the computer, read Audio first on Sunday. When the question is HDMI length from the back wall to the booth, read Sanctuary cable run. When the question is ATEM, OBS, YoloBox, or a capture card, read When a small church should buy a hardware switcher. When the question is NDI on the church network, read When NDI is worth it for a small church.

Sunday reality
One person can own the stream path. They cannot also mix FOH, run lyrics, and operate a second camera without dropping something.
What one volunteer can actually run:
- Three PTZ presets (wide, pulpit, music) and a recall button or joystick click
- Pastor lav into the mix, then a stereo dump into the stream
- Start and stop the stream, plus a simple cut to slides if the switcher is hardware
- A late-service save when the pastor walks off the pulpit (recall wide, do not chase)
What they should not own on the same Sunday:
- A second camera that needs an operator
- NDI, bonding, or a firmware surprise
- Dual lavs, a 4K delivery promise, or a new board they have never muted
If two people show up, the second person is backup, not a reason to buy a second body this week.
Core recommend stack
Same recommend heroes as the under-~150 cart, because a solo booth still needs a body, a mix, a mount, and a cable. ATEM Mini Pro ISO is the default hardware path (record plus stream), not the cheaper Pro. Hold ATEM only when the volunteer already lives in OBS (path A below).
| Piece | Listing | Hero street | SKU page date |
|---|---|---|---|
| PTZ | PTZOptics Move SE 20x | about $1,349 (Videoguys) | 2026-10-20 |
| Switcher | ATEM Mini Pro ISO | $585 (Blackmagic list) | 2026-10-20 |
| Pastor lav | BLX14/CVL | about $359 | 2026-09-08 |
| Mix (board already exists) | Scarlett 2i2 | about $224.99 | 2026-09-12 |
| Mix (still need FOH) | MG-XU MG10XU | about $324.99 B&H | 2026-10-20 |
| Mount | HCM-1 | about $90 | 2026-09-13 |
| Cable | Active HDMI 50ft | about $100.06 Amazon | 2026-09-15 |
Buy Scarlett or MG10XU, not both. Scarlett 2i2 if the house board already exists and you only need a clean dump into the laptop or stream box. MG10XU if you still need FOH plus a stereo USB dump. One BLX14/CVL channel is enough on day one.
Two solo paths
Pick the path that survives a late substitute, not the path that looks like a YouTube rack.
Path A: USB plus OBS. Fit when the volunteer already lives in OBS. Camera USB (or HDMI through a capture box) into the laptop. Same lav, mix, mount, and cable. Hold ATEM until hardware buttons help a substitute more than they help you. You still need the pastor mic on the mix. OBS does not fix a dead lav.
Path B: HDMI plus ATEM (default). Fit when you want substitute-proof buttons. HDMI from the PTZ into ATEM Mini Pro ISO. Cut camera and slides on lit buttons. A volunteer who can press the camera button and leave the rest alone can run this after one rehearsal.
Hold ATEM when path A is already working and nobody else will sit the booth. Hold YoloBox versus ATEM when the room is portable or there is no PC in the booth. Do not buy YoloBox as the default for a fixed sanctuary that already likes hardware buttons.
Ballpark street total
Dated 2026-10-20. Arithmetic uses the hero streets in the table above. SKU pages may be older than today. This is not an offer. Confirm the cart.
Default (path B, ATEM in the cart):
| Path | Arithmetic | Ballpark |
|---|---|---|
| Scarlett (board exists) | $1,349 + $585 + $359 + $224.99 + $90 + $100.06 | $2,708.05 |
| MG-XU (need FOH) | $1,349 + $585 + $359 + $324.99 + $90 + $100.06 | $2,808.05 |
Hold ATEM (path A, OBS already owned):
| Path | Arithmetic | Ballpark |
|---|---|---|
| Scarlett, no ATEM | $1,349 + $359 + $224.99 + $90 + $100.06 | $2,123.05 |
| MG-XU, no ATEM | $1,349 + $359 + $324.99 + $90 + $100.06 | $2,223.05 |
The MG-XU path uses the B&H price ($324.99, 2026-10-20). Guitar Center showed MG10XU at about $250.74 on sale on 2026-09-12. If that sale is still live, the MG-XU plus ATEM path drops about $74.25 ($324.99 minus $250.74), to about $2,733.80. Do not count on a sale.
Optional lights
Add lights only when the sanctuary is dim and faces go noisy on the PTZ.
| Piece | Listing | Hero street | SKU page date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daylight COB | SL100D | about $179 | 2026-09-14 |
| Softbox | Softbox 60x90 | about $39.99 | 2026-09-17 |
That pair is about $218.99 on top of either core path (Scarlett plus ATEM plus lights about $2,927.04; MG-XU plus ATEM plus lights about $3,027.04). The light stand is buy-separately hold (not a listing on this site). Bare COB without a softbox or bounce is a skip look on faces.
Who it is for
Start with labor and booth skill.
| Situation | Fit or skip |
|---|---|
| One volunteer, fixed sanctuary, back-wall PTZ | Fit. This is the default solo cart. |
| Late substitute who can press a lit button | Fit path B (ATEM). |
| Volunteer already lives in OBS | Fit path A. Hold ATEM until buttons help. |
| Portable Sunday or no PC in the booth | Hold YoloBox versus a fixed booth. Skip ATEM as the only plan. |
| Larger room, balcony throw, or 4K delivery | Skip this cart as the only plan. Do the throw math. See the first-kit guide. |
| Two volunteers most weeks | Still fit this cart. Do not buy a second camera until the first path is boring. Seat-count shopping: under ~150. |
| Tight cash, and you already decoded SKU, warranty, and Saturday support | Hold a cheaper Amazon PTZ. Not the hero on this page. |
What to hold or skip
- 4K for a 1080p stream: hold Move 4K
- Conference bar on the sanctuary back wall: hold Logitech Meetup
- Handheld or mirrorless as a “PTZ”: hold Canon Vixia and Sony ZV-E10
- Close-range AI as a wall PTZ: hold OBSBOT Tail 2
- Budget Amazon PTZ: hold FoMaKo and Tenveo 20x until the exact SKU name, warranty, and who answers on Saturday are clear
- All-in-one versus a fixed booth: hold YoloBox versus ATEM when the room is fixed and volunteers already like hardware buttons
- Fiber HDMI on day one: hold C2G AOC versus Active HDMI unless copper flakes, EMI is real, or code wants CMP
- 50 ft Active for a short hop: buy Premium HDMI when the measured path is about 25 ft or less. Active HDMI stays the long copper line on this cart
- Dual lavs day one; NDI-first install; Wi-Fi encoding as the Sunday path; a second camera before pastor audio is on the mix
Next Sunday checklist
- Measure the throw from the back wall to the pulpit. Pick 12x, 20x, or 30x from that number.
- Set three presets: wide, pulpit, music. Recall them once in an empty room.
- Put the pastor mic on the mix first. Confirm it hits the stream dump before you touch a second camera.
- Choose one path: USB plus OBS, or HDMI into an ATEM. Write it on a sticky note for the substitute.
- Open the SKU pages and confirm today’s cart. Prices here go stale.
- Do not buy the hold list unless that exact job is real.
Honest verdict
Recommend this solo-proof stack: Move SE 20x, ATEM Mini Pro ISO (or hold ATEM if you already live in OBS), one BLX14/CVL, Scarlett 2i2 or MG10XU, HCM-1, and a 50 ft Active HDMI. Pastor audio and three presets beat a second camera every time.
The tight-budget hold path is a decoded Amazon PTZ (FoMaKo or Tenveo 20x) in place of Move SE. Hold it until SKU name, warranty, and Saturday support are clear. Do not treat that path as the hero on this page. You save money on the body and you own the support risk.
This page is a dated cart, not a complete AV design. Lighting, copyright, and volunteers who will actually show up still matter.
Seat-count cart: Budget livestream build (under ~150 seats). First-kit map: First livestream kit for a small church. Side-by-side cameras: PTZ cameras for small churches compared.
