Audio first on Sunday
A decision page, not another cart. A dead pastor mic kills the stream more often than a missing second camera. Get one speaking mic through a mix and into the computer before you shop a second body.
The solo cart is one volunteer Sunday. Seat-count shopping is the under ~150 cart. Throw, seats, and the skip list are First livestream kit for a small church. The second-camera decision is When a small church should add a second camera.

Why audio first
Viewers forgive a locked wide. They do not forgive a pastor they cannot hear. One volunteer can own one mic path. They cannot also chase a second camera, learn a new board, and debug RF in the same hour.
That is the labor on one volunteer Sunday. Put the pastor on the mix, then a stereo dump into the computer. A second camera waits until this path is boring. The decision for that camera is When a small church should add a second camera.
What to buy first
Buy in this order. Stop when the pastor is audible on the stream.
- One pastor mic. Default is BLX14/CVL.
- One path into the computer. Scarlett 2i2 if the house board already exists. MG-XU MG10XU if you still need front of house (FOH).
- Then the rest of a dated cart: camera, switcher, mount, cable. Those totals already live on one volunteer Sunday and under ~150 seats. This page does not add a third total.
The eight audio listings sit on the audio hub. Wireless choices sit on compare wireless lav.
Pastor mic paths
Wired SM58: hold or skip as the only pastor mic. The SM58 page stays recommend for a wired handheld on a stand: announcements, a worship lead, a guest who does not walk. Hold or skip it as the only pastor feed when the pastor leaves the stand. A cable at the pulpit is not a lav, and a late substitute cannot follow a walk with a tether.
Wireless BLX14/CVL: default recommend. One pastor, first wireless, analog UHF quiet enough in the room. One channel. Pick the band for the zip code before you buy. Turn the pack on, check the receiver lights, check the batteries, and leave the frequency alone. That is the Sunday-viable kit.
SLX-D or EW-D: step up, do not start here. Stay on BLX until analog is maxed or the metro is RF-crowded. Then SLX-D if you want to stay in Shure with a WL185m cardioid lav. EW-D if you want Sennheiser digital UHF, the Smart Assist app, and a metal rack receiver. Side-by-side: compare wireless lav. BLX, SLX-D, and EW-D stay recommend. The difference is which problem you already have.
QLX-D: hold, do not step here from BLX. QLX-D is a Shure digital half-rack. The clear kit is QLXD14/93, with a WL93 omni lav. It sits above SLX-D in price and in setup (network scan, encryption, a rechargeable dock). It does not take the recommend from BLX. The page verdict is hold.
Wireless GO: skip. Wrong tool. Wireless GO is a creator kit. The current cart is Wireless GO (Gen 3). It is 2.4 GHz, with a 3.5 mm or USB-C receiver, not a UHF lav into the board. Wireless GO II is the previous generation, and Rode’s US page marks it discontinued. Do not buy either generation as the sanctuary pastor mic. An overflow room takes a line from the house mix. A phone interview is a different job. Neither one takes the recommend from BLX, and neither one earns a hold on this ladder.
Into the computer
The mic is not the stream. The receiver or the handheld still has to hit a mix, then the computer.
Scarlett 2i2 when the board already exists. The house mixer is in the booth and you only need a clean dump into the laptop. Buy Scarlett 2i2. A line out from that board into the interface, then USB into the computer. Do not plug a speaker-level output into the Scarlett. Do not buy a second mixer for this job.
MG-XU when you still need FOH. There is no house board yet. You need the sanctuary mix plus a stereo USB dump. Buy MG-XU MG10XU. The lav or the SM58 plugs in here. USB is the stereo mix into the laptop, not separate tracks for pastor and music. On Windows, install the Yamaha USB driver once before Sunday. Skip MG-XU if the house mixer already exists. That job is Scarlett.
Buy one of those, not both, on day one. Skip both if an ATEM Mini or YoloBox already carries a clean stream mix. Another USB box does not fix a mic that never reached that mix.
What to hold on day one
- Dual lavs: hold. One BLX14/CVL channel is enough. The BLX page recommends a dual kit only when two lavs are already real (two pastors, or pastor plus worship). Do not buy the second pack because someone might speak.
- A digital step-up before analog has failed: hold SLX-D and EW-D until BLX is maxed, the room is RF-crowded, or you already know you want that ecosystem. Read compare wireless lav before you spend the step-up.
- QLX-D as that step-up: hold. QLX-D is the further Shure half-rack. It does not replace BLX, and it does not replace SLX-D or EW-D.
- A creator wireless kit as the pastor mic: skip. Wireless GO (current cart is Gen 3) is 2.4 GHz into a camera or a phone. It is not BLX. An overflow room takes a line from the house mix. A testimony on a phone is a different job. Neither one replaces the pastor lav.
- Complex routing: hold. One mic, one mix, one stereo dump into the computer. No multitrack split, no second aux just in case, and no board the volunteer has never muted.
- A second camera to hide a quiet pastor: skip. Picture does not fix a dead lav.
Honest verdict
Recommend this order: one BLX14/CVL, then Scarlett 2i2 or MG-XU MG10XU, then the computer. Pastor audio on the stream beats a second camera every time.
Hold or skip a wired SM58 as the only pastor mic when they walk. Keep it for a stand, announcements, or a worship lead.
Hold dual lavs and complex routing on day one. Hold SLX-D and EW-D until BLX is the problem. Hold QLX-D. Skip Wireless GO. It does not take the recommend from BLX14/CVL.
Dated carts, not a new total: one volunteer Sunday and under ~150 seats. First-kit map: First livestream kit for a small church. All eight audio pages: audio hub. Wireless ladder: compare wireless lav.
