Magewell
Why this is here: third hardware switcher / encoder SKU after ATEM Mini and YoloBox. It is not a camera. It is not a cut-bus.
Capture cards, standalone encoders, and NDI converters from Magewell. Current family on this page is USB Capture HDMI Plus, Ultra Stream HDMI, Ultra Encode HDMI, and Pro Convert HDMI Plus. You do not cut cameras on these boxes. You take HDMI from a camera or a switcher program and turn it into USB, a stream, or NDI.
This does not replace a Move SE. It sits after the cameras, the same way ATEM Mini and YoloBox do. The difference is the job. ATEM is a hardware cut-bus plus encoder. YoloBox is the computer-free tablet. Magewell is the dongle and the rack encoder when you already have a switcher, or when you are staying in OBS.
Who it is for
Workflow, not marketing names. How the HDMI program actually leaves the room is the useful number. Price versus ATEM Mini Pro ISO (about $500 to $585) is the other one.

If you only buy one Magewell box for a small church that has already decided it wants this family, buy the USB Capture HDMI Plus for HDMI to OBS. Buy Ultra Encode HDMI if the job is a dedicated encoder with SRT or NDI|HX after a non-streaming switcher.
Volunteer skill
- USB Capture HDMI Plus into OBS or Teams: Sunday-viable after one plug-in. A volunteer who can find the UVC device in OBS and leave the rest alone.
- Ultra Stream on-device buttons and phone app: needs a dry run. Do not invent destinations on the first live Sunday.
- Ultra Encode protocols (SRT, NDI|HX2, dual stream, Control Hub): a trained volunteer, not the person who also runs lyrics and the pastor mic.
- Pro Convert full-NDI ingest: same trained-volunteer bar. Needs a working NDI network, not a first-Sunday experiment.

Honest verdict
Hold the Magewell family for a typical small church that should buy ATEM Mini Pro ISO first.
ATEM Mini Pro ISO is about $500 to $585. It is a hardware cut-bus with a built-in stream. That is the default Sunday buy when you have two to four HDMI cameras and one or two volunteers. Magewell does not cut cameras. Buying a capture card or a rack encoder instead of a switcher is the wrong first box for most rooms.
Recommend USB Capture HDMI Plus only when the path is HDMI camera or switcher program to a laptop running OBS and you need a reliable UVC dongle (about $389). That is the hero inside this family for the OBS laptop path.
Recommend Ultra Encode (about $555) only if you need a rack encoder with SRT or NDI|HX and you already rejected ATEM or YoloBox, or you already have a dumb switcher with no stream.
